Administration

The vision and purpose of the Administrative Staff is to provide students, parents, staff and stakeholders of Premier Academy with comprehensive services and supports.  The combined education and alternative program experiences of the administrative staff provides a strong foundation for the program.  The administrative staff is comprised of:

Meghan Martin

Principal

Welcome, Premier Academy students!  Joining the Premier organization during the 2003-2004 school year, Meghan started as a teacher at Premier Academy Middle School in Joliet (now known as Lincoln School).  Between the two Premier Academy sites, she has held various positions and is currently serving as Principal of Premier in Morris.

Meghan attended Kankakee Community College to play softball, where she completed an Associate in Science.  She went on to Jacksonville State University, where she played softball while earning her B.S. in Elementary Education.  Finally, Meghan completed an M.A. in Educational Leadership from Aurora University.

Nick-Bertino-IMG

Nick Bertino

Assistant Principal

Nick attended Illinois State University and earned his Bachelors Degree in History.  He then attended National-Louis University for his teaching certification.  Nick has since obtained his principal endorsement in educational leadership from Aurora University.

Nick resides in Morris with his wife, two stepsons and his own son, who is entering 5th grade.  He enjoys golfing and watching Chicago sports (except for the White Sox), hanging with family and friends, and playing drums every now and then.

Instructional

Premier Academy utilizes computer-based programs to function as our primary instructional tool.  All coursework is aligned to Illinois State Standards and the referring schools’ requirements for graduation.  Certified teacher and teacher aides provide one-on-one assistance, as well as life skills activities and additional academic enrichment in the form of direct instruction.

Lauren Vitko

Academic Advisor & Public Relations Coordinator

Lauren graduated from Joliet Junior College in 2002 with an Associates of Applied Science degree in Criminal Justice. While at JJC she played volleyball, her team placing second at the NJCAA Nationals. She then transferred and graduated from Illinois State University in 2004 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Criminal Justice, as well as completing an internship with the Grundy County juvenile probation department.

She first joined the Premier Staff in 2004 as an Instructional Aide at their Joliet facility, now known as Lincoln School. In 2005, Lauren joined the staff at Premier Academy in Morris (established in 2004) as a Student Support Specialist. She then served as the Employment and PR Coordinator within the agency from 2008-2017 and is currently serving as the Academic Advisor and Public Relations Coordinator.

Lauren resides in Gardner, and she has three children: Owen, Grace and Cecelia. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and attending her childrens’ various activities.
